У Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs held a sports and patriotic holiday dedicated to the National Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine at all locations. The event was attended by freshmen of the university's educational and research institutes No. 1-4 and Sumy branch, who are currently undergoing camp training.

After the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine, the audience observed a minute of silence to honour the patriotism, courage, loyalty and heroism of those who laid down their lives for the unity and independence of Ukraine.

On behalf of the Rector of the University, Police General of the third rank Valerii Sokurenko, the participants of the competition were greeted by First Vice-Rector, Lieutenant Colonel of Police Viktor Vasylenko, who wished the youth inspiration, strength of spirit and a well-deserved victory. The heads of the educational and research institutesVitalii Romaniuk, Vasyl Kikinchuk, Hennadii Zvirianskyi, Yurii Onyshchenko, and the director of the Sumy branch Serhii Lukash encouraged the freshmen to have a good start, fight hard and achieve high results.

The first-year students demonstrated their dedication, physical potential and capabilities in such competitions as kettlebell snatch, high bar pull-up, flexion and extension of the arms in the lying position, athletics relay, tug of war, and football.

Such events foster team spirit and strengthen the will to win, as the police profession requires that police officers be resilient, steadfast, and have high moral and volitional qualities in order to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens and be ready to defend the state, its freedom and democracy. It does not matter what places the participants took in the team or individual competitions, the main thing is the good mood they received, the charge of vivacity and positive energy.
