For Karina Shafieieva, student life is not limited to classrooms. The first-year student of the ERI No. 5 successfully combines excellent studies, scientific activities, public leadership, volunteering and the implementation of youth initiatives. She heads the Youth Council under Kamianets-Podilskyi Mayor, develops public projects and is already actively involved in the formation of youth policy.
“I am so used to working that for me it is both work and rest. I get pleasure from it,” says the student.
Karina’s leadership qualities began to manifest themselves in her school years. First, she joined the student government, later headed the student council, and later the high school council. The logical continuation of this path was participation in the Youth Council under Kamianets-Podilskyi Mayor, where she went from secretary to chairman.
In early 2025, Karina, together with a team of like-minded people, founded the public organization "Youth Vision", which united active youth around social, educational and volunteer initiatives. Among her areas of activity are support for youth projects, organization of charity events and creative programs for children, in particular, students of a preschool institution where children with special educational needs study.
Karina's activity and concern have already been noted at the state and public levels. For her significant contribution to the development of the youth movement and volunteerism, the student was awarded the Gratitude of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, as well as the Cross of Public Merit "Heroes without Weapons".
However, the path to her future profession was not so obvious.
"I once thought that law was not mine at all," she recalls.
The attitude towards law changed after participating in school Olympiads, and the final decision was shaped by personal life circumstances.
After entering KhNUIA, there were no more doubts: “I realized that I like absolutely everything here – the university atmosphere, studies, science and opportunities for development.”
Karina is also actively involved in scientific activities. She is a member of the scientific circle “Current Problems of the Theory and History of State and Law” under the leadership of the senior lecturer of the department, Serhii Kolesnikov. In the first year of study, the student prepared 15 abstracts of reports and two scientific articles, which is a significant result for a first-year student.
Karina’s initiative is also manifested in university life. One of her initiatives was the organization of a meeting of students with a public figure, founder of the organization “Dostupno.UA” Dmitry Shchebetiuk.
For her high academic, scientific and social achievements, Karina received an award from the institute's Director Oksana Brusakova at the end of her first year.
Despite her busy schedule, Karina also finds time for creativity. She studied at a choir school for eleven years, plays the piano, and for fun, she also plays the guitar. She is convinced that her love of art and constant self-development was instilled in her by her mother, who supported all her hobbies from childhood.
Today, Karina is a member of the Youth Council under Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration and the Public Organization "Ukrainian Association of Youth Councils". In the future, she aspires to join the National Youth Council under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in order to participate in the formation of youth policy and the development of legislative initiatives. At the same time, she considers legal activity to be her main professional orientation.
"I want to develop in my specialty. I am really interested in this, and this is what I want to connect my life with".
Karina Shafieieva is not just building her own professional future today - she is changing the environment around her, proving that a real lawyer does not begin with a diploma, but with care, responsibility and willingness to act.
