For 28-year-old Oleksandr Lozovan from the Odesa region, studying at the «Barrier-free driving school» of the OSUIA became an opportunity to move around the city on your own and master a new profession.

Before the full-scale war, the man worked as a slinger on a metal base. In August 2024, he came to the defense of Ukraine and served as a paramedic scout in the 95th separate airborne assault brigade. In October of the same year, he was wounded. After treatment and rehabilitation, he returned to civilian life.

I learned about the possibility of free education from friends. Oleksandr had no driving experience before, so he especially appreciates the support of the instructors.

The driver's license allowed him to be more independent in everyday life. «You don't always take a taxi, and I can't stand in the minibus for a long time. Not everyone sees my injuries and does not understand that it is difficult for me», - explains the veteran.

Training has also opened up professional opportunities: Oleksandr is already working as a driver and is considering work in the field of passenger transportation.

Oleksandr advises those who doubt whether they will be able to drive after an injury to try their studies. For him, this step was the beginning of a new stage - with independent trips, work and plans for the future.
