On September 28, with the assistance of the OSCE and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Academy of Internal Affairs, with the assistance of the OSCE and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, hosted the opening ceremony of the training "Psychological Support (Psychological Rehabilitation)" for representatives of psychological services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, including the National Police of Ukraine.
The training was conducted within the framework of the pilot project of international technical assistance "Development of training capacities on psychological support in extreme situations for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine" with the support of the OSCE.
Rector of the NAIA, Police General of the second rank Volodymyr Cherniei addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech. He outlined the principles of the psychological service of the Academy, and also assured that our institution will continue to provide the necessary professional assistance within the project initiated by the OSCE Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Nina Lyhun, Head of the Psychological Support Unit of the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and Serhii Hrynenko, Project Manager of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine, informed the participants about the above-mentioned joint project and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to hold the event at NAIA, as well as interest in further cooperation with the Academy within the project.
OSCE experts on psychological rehabilitation Liudmyla Tsarenko and Maryna Malinovska demonstrated their presentations.
The participants exchanged experience about practical work in subordinate units to overcome the psychological consequences of natural disasters, man-made disasters and hostilities, noting the need to further improve the work of psychologists during extreme situations with law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, the military units and civilians.
It was also noted that it is expedient to borrow foreign experience in this area, in particular the experience of Croatia.
The official end of the event with the delivery of certificates to participants will take place on October 2 in the central building of the Academy.
