Mariupol Primary Professional Training Center “Academy of Police” of the Donetsk Law Institute of MIA of Ukraine is proud for its traditions of practicing the theory with professionals. Usually the National Police Officers teach in the classes wider than standard form of education, and that contributes to the effective educational process of future Police Officers. The invited guests are not just Police Officers, they are real professionals and they share knowledge and enormous experience with a new generation of law enforcement officers.
Recently Police Major Natalia Makhortova a professor of the Mariupol Primary Professional Training Center “Academy of Police” invited Police Major Roman Klymenko, the Deputy Chief of Psychological Support Division of the Personnel Department of Main Department of National Police in Donetsk Region to present a lecture “The concept of communication. The essence of official communication and its components. Verbal and nonverbal communication” as a part of the academic discipline “Professional ethics. Effective communication”. It was a practice session for the group №4, specialization preventive activities. Roman Klymenko is a polygraph specialist, he is one of two Police Officers in Ukraine who are members of American Polygraph Association.
Police major Roman Klymenko started his lecture with story about his way becoming specialist. Also he noted that it’s not enough to check only apparat quality for detection of false information but very important part took an education, a professionalism, an experience of a specialist. During his lecture he painted a polygraph history in Ukraine, the use of polygraph in the pre-trial investigation of criminal offenses, in conducting official investigations, in police certification during the entry of candidates for service in law enforcement. Roman Klymenko paid attention to legality of polygraph usefulness.
Roman Klymenko came to Mariupol Primary Professional Training Center “Police Academy” with apparat to show how it works. One Police Officer Candidate agreed to demonstrate a polygram and how the polygraph detects false information. The polygraph sensors were connected to the police officer candidate. A number of triple-digit was offered to the candidate and he should choose one of them. He wrote it on paper without telling data. During the testing process the police officer candidate should tell a lie, but Mr. Klymenko should detect a number chosen by the Police Officer Candidate. Roman Klymenko proved that polygraph really detected a lie and that he was perfect specialist. It was a way to Police Officer Candidates become familiar with the work of the polygraph and how the polygraph records changes in physiological processes in the human body.
The lecture was very interesting and exciting. We hope for further cooperation with Police Major Roman Klymenko.
