A thematic round table titled “Educational Opportunities and Social Guarantees for War Veterans” was held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs (KhNUIA) in Kamianets-Podilskyi. The discussion brought together representatives of the police, regional and territorial service centres of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, public organizations, higher education institutions, the veteran community, and local self-government authorities.

The meeting was initiated by Head of the Main Department of the National Police in Khmelnytskyi Region Ivan Ishchenko. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, and representatives of the veteran community in creating conditions for veterans’ professional development and social reintegration.

KhNUIA was represented by Vice-Rector Oleksandr Muzychuk. He presented the University’s educational opportunities, professional training programmes, and employment prospects. Particular attention was paid to the involvement of veterans in the University’s activities and the development of veteran support policies.

“The University creates opportunities for veterans not only to obtain education, acquire new professions, and develop professionally, but also to realize their potential through employment. Today, veterans work at our University, sharing their experience with students. We pay considerable attention to veteran support policies, as it is important to ensure conditions for their full professional realization and return to active life,” noted Oleksandr Muzychuk.

The participants of the round table also visited the Barrier-Free Driving School of KhNUIA in Kamianets-Podilskyi. They learned about the opportunities available for driver training and the conditions created for acquiring practical driving skills. The activities of the driving school represent one of the University’s practical initiatives aimed at supporting veterans and people with disabilities and promoting their social integration.

Oleksandr Hovorukha, Advisor to the Rector on Veteran Policy, shared his personal experience of professional and social activity after military service. He shared his experience of his participation in adaptive sports, sporting achievements, and public initiatives, which demonstrated opportunities for continued professional development and active civic engagement after returning from military service.

Heads of higher education institutions of Kamianets-Podilskyi also participated in the round table. They presented educational programmes for veterans, approaches to their professional adaptation, and the implementation of veteran support policies within their institutions.

The participants discussed employment opportunities, retraining, access to educational programmes, and the creation of conditions for veterans’ professional development. The meeting provided a platform for exchanging experience and identifying further areas of cooperation between law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, and the veteran community.
