Preparation of Ukrainian institutions for participation in Horizon Europe competitions was discussed at KhNUIA

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs held an information event dedicated to the features of preparing project applications for competitions of the European Union program Horizon Europe in the direction of “Civil Security for Society” in 2026. Representatives of higher education institutions, scientific institutions, state organizations and industrial enterprises of Ukraine joined the discussion.

The event was opened by the University’s Vice-Rector Oleksandr Muzychuk, who emphasized the importance of developing international scientific cooperation and active participation of Ukrainian institutions in European research initiatives. Head of the International Cooperation Department Tetiana Matiushkova outlined the role of international units in supporting the participation of institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in international grant programs.

During the event, the Chief Specialist of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine Department of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, Olha Kurykina, presented current information on the participation of Ukrainian organizations in the competitions in the direction of “Civil Security for Society” in 2024-2025 and outlined the main challenges facing participants in 2026.

Oleksii Serdiuk, the National Contact Point for the direction of “Civil Security for Society” of KhNUIA, familiarized participants with the practical aspects of preparing competition applications, the structure of project proposals and key requirements of the Horizon Europe program.

Special attention was paid to the issues of coordination of international projects. Oleksandr Chemerys, a representative of the National Contact Point of   Pukhov Institute for Modelling in Energy Engineering, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, spoke about the role of the coordinator in Cluster 3 projects of the Horizon Europe program.

After the presentations, the participants joined a question and answer session, during which they discussed the prospects for the participation of Ukrainian security and defense institutions in international research projects.
