On the basis of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, regional trainings were held for employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, dedicated to the main provisions of anti-corruption legislation and practical aspects of its application.
The event was attended by representatives of regional authorities, organizations, institutions and enterprises under the jurisdiction of the MIA in Kharkiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia and Khmelnytskyi regions, including staff from service centers, forensic research centers and medical institutions within the MIA system.
The training was opened by representatives of the MIA, the NACP and event partners. Welcoming remarks were delivered to the participants by Anatolii Fodchuk, Head of the Corruption Prevention Department of the MIA of Ukraine; Oleksandr Muzychuk, Vice-Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs; Inna Zaporovska, Head of the Anti-Corruption Policy Implementation Department of the NACP; and Marina Kohut, an Officer of the NATO Integrity Programme.
During the training, participants examined key issues of anti-corruption legislation, in particular:
• prevention and resolution of conflicts of interest;
• restrictions on gifts, pluralism and joint work of close people;
• administrative and criminal liability for breaches of anti-corruption legislation;
• the application of analytical tools in the field of public procurement;
• practical aspects of financial control and the specifics of asset declarations.

Particular attention was paid to the use of analytical tools to ensure transparency in public procurement, presented by Iryna Basova, Project Manager of BI Prozorro at Transparency International Ukraine.
Kateryna Udod, the Anti-Corruption Officer of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, presented a practical session on the application of the provisions of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Prevention of Corruption’ relating to financial control and asset declarations.
Conducting such training helps to raise awareness among MIA staff regarding the requirements of anti-corruption legislation, to develop a consistent approach to its application, and to strengthen a culture of integrity within the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine.
