The second graduation of Community Police Officers took place at KhNUIA

189 Community Police Officers graduated from Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. For the second time, the university has trained specialists according to the new world model, they will perform their duties in 15 regions of our country and 120 united territorial communities.

 

The celebrations were attended by Oleksandr Fatsevych, Deputy Chief of the National Police of Ukraine, Police General of the 3-rd rank; Valerii Sokurenko, Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Police General of the 3-rd rank; Sarah Langenkamp, Head of the Law Enforcement Department of the US Embassy in Ukraine; Michael Hall, Director of ICITAP Regional Program Office in Ukraine, Timothy Janowick, Deputy Director of ICITAP Regional Program Office in Ukraine, representatives of ICITAP International Program, university staff, and course participants.

 

Oleksandr Fatsevych on behalf of the Minister of Internal Affairs, congratulated the graduates of the courses on the completion of their studies and the 98th anniversary of the establishment of the district police officers institute in Ukraine and presented awards for honorable service to the best district police officers. He noted that the main purpose of the police force is crime prevention. “The history of service of district police officers continues. I’m sure your service will be full of respect and estimation, and also courage, dignity, loyalty to the oath and the matter of life”.

Training of specialists according to the new world model was supported by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, National Police of Ukraine, Embassy of the United States of America and ICITAP.

 

Sarah Langenkamp, Head of the Law Enforcement Department of the US Embassy in Ukraine thanked the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police and Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs for this project and noted that it “lays” the foundations of a true partnership when both the police and the community jointly solve problems in their territories. Expectations from you are very high, but I’m sure you can prove you’re real and trustworthy. I encourage you to support each other and your colleagues from other regions, to actively share your experiences, to set an example by your work and to encourage the interest of other communities in this project. I wish you success on this path, safety for you and your families!”.

 

 

Valerii Sokurenko, Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Police General of the 3-rd rank noted: “Two and a half months you studied at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The best of the best has passed the training. I am grateful to you for setting an example for the non-permanent staff, to our foreign partners, to our trainers, who shared their skills, experience and techniques, to give us access to international standards. Be real, so that citizens feel safe and protected at any time of the day and in any place, that you provide them with quality service, and quality police services. This project is a continuation of police reform. Don’t embarrass yourself, be consistent, be demanding to yourself, to your colleagues, and you will succeed. Serve in such a way that you are respected by people and protected by God! Glory to Ukraine!".

 

Certificates were handed over.

 

The celebration was concluded with an exhibition performance by the Honor Guard and the University’s Cadet Drummer Unit. At the end of the event, the participants inspected the vehicles that the police received to serve their territorial communities.
