Scientists and practitioners have discussed at LvSUIA mental health of individual in a crisis society

All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference “Mental health of individual in a crisis society” took place at Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. Event was held online via ZOOM platform.

LvSUIA Vice-Rector Olha BALYNSKA made a welcoming speech to the audience. She expressed hope that new format of scientific event wouldn’t affect the effectiveness of the meeting. And she wished everyone harmony with their surroundings and with themselves.

 

Olha BALYNSKA noted that this isn’t the first time that law enforcement psychologists have joined the conference and noted that it will enrich a fruitful discussion.

Meeting was moderated by Dean of LvSUIA Faculty of Psychology Zoryana KISIL. By the way, scientific meeting was initiated by this faculty.

 

Head of Department of Psychological Support of Personnel Department of MIA Ukraine Nina LYHUN noted that today's conference is a jubilee. After all, exactly five years ago, scientists and practitioners first gathered at Lviv State University of Internal Affairs to discuss mental health problems of individual in a crisis society.

Nina LYHUN also thanked LvSUIA representatives for effective cooperation, which has strengthened over the years of cooperation and the constant expansion of communication space. “Every time scientists are faced with new issues, which we can solve only in cooperation. So I want everyone to get intellectual pleasure today”.

Head of Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical, President of Ukrainian Union of Psychotherapists University Oleksandr FILTS while introducing conference participants to the context of the topic stressed the expediency of talking not only about individual’ mental health, but also society as a whole, and even more - culture of the nation.

Experts discussed psyche adaptive capabilities to the crises. Particularly, it was about health technologies and semantic self-regulation.

Attendees discussed psychological understanding of physical and mental health during a pandemic and crisis communication in its conditions. They talked about mental health issues in context of a personal crisis during a pandemic and about the study of personal experiences of stress among students during distance learning.

There were opinions on the topic of psychological assistance to student youth in a crisis situation by means of art therapy and psychological characteristics of students prone to procrastination. Polish experience of comparative studies of emotional health of student youth was also considered.

 

Psychologists have spoken about emotional immunity as a factor of health and emotional intelligence in the discourse of personal life. It was also about factors of post-traumatic growth of participants in hostilities in Eastern Ukraine and psychological manifestations of combat stress.
