Meeting on “Combating human trafficking: issues that need advocacy” was held in Lviv. Event was initiated by the Public Human Rights Organization “La Strada-Ukraine”.
Head of LvSUIA Department of Actualization of Education and Practical Training Oleksandra ZAKHAROVA joined the discussion and development of ideas. Meeting was also attended by representatives of Department of Social Protection, Service for Children of the Regional State Administration, Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region, NGO “Center for Women's Perspectives” and others.
Participants discussed joint organizational activities and future projects, problematic issues of establishing a status of victim of human trafficking, and also exchanged experiences.
Oleksandra ZAKHAROVA noted that Lviv State University of Internal Affairs trains specialists for National Police in combating human trafficking and general criminal offenses. She told an audience about events that takes place at the university in this direction: international conferences, round tables, trainings, online courses.
University representatives added that forensic landfill is currently being reconstructed. Once completed, training quests will be conducted to investigate crimes related to human trafficking, including labor and sexual exploitation.
Results of the meeting will be summarized by NGO “La Strada – Ukraine” and will be important step in the fight against human trafficking.
