Andrii LIUBIMENKO is a student of the barrier-free driving school of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. He is currently taking a theoretical course in driving a car and dreams of getting a driver’s license soon.
Andrii said that since childhood he has been interested in military subjects, especially technology. This was the impetus for his contract service – in 2015 he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served in the artillery unit of the Naval Forces. He spent three years in the east of the country, after the end of the contract he continued his service at home.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, Andriy did not hesitate to take up arms again, because, in his opinion, this is the duty of every citizen who considers himself a true patriot. In July 2023, during a counteroffensive in the Zaporizhzhia direction, Andrii LIUBIMENKO commanded a sapper group. While rescuing a wounded comrade, Andrii stepped on a mine - as a result of the explosion, he lost his lower limb. There was a long treatment and rehabilitation ahead. It was in one of the military hospitals that Andrii learned about a barrier-free driving school located in his hometown - Kamianets-Podilskyi.
“I always wanted to get a driver's license, but there was always a lack of time. After being injured, I didn't think that it would be possible to do this in the city where I live and work. There are many people like me today, so I believe that in the future the need for barrier-free driving schools will grow rapidly. Having your own transport and being able to drive it is, first of all, freedom and the opportunity to be as mobile as possible in society. "I hope that soon I will successfully pass both the theory and practice tests, and will be able to feel confident behind the wheel," said war veteran Andrii LIUBIMENKO.
