With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, Dmytro PETRENKO decided to defend his homeland and chose the specialty of sapper. He served in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo Halytskyi, but in November 2023 he was seriously wounded. After undergoing long-term treatment, he decided to start studying at a driving school for people with disabilities at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. He is already mastering the theoretical course: “I really hope to pass the theory exam and driving practice. This profession will provide me with new opportunities for self-realization. I dream of returning to my brigade, because I have great respect for my combat commander and want to continue to serve with him.”
