НАВС

Maksym Kulyk, a combatant, is taking a practical course at the driving school for people with disabilities of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, having previously successfully passed the theory exam by studying it on his own. Maksym is from Kirovohrad region, where he worked as a labour training teacher.

In 2016, he gained his first combat experience in Stanytsia Luhanska, when he volunteered to defend his homeland. In 2017, he served at Svitlodarsk bulge, in 2018 - in Mariupol, and after the end of his contract, he returned home to Kropyvnytskyi. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he rejoined the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine. For a year and a half, he served in one of the brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Odesa. After being seriously injured and losing his right lower limb, Maksym underwent lengthy treatment in different cities of Ukraine, during which he underwent 12 (!) surgeries, followed by rehabilitation. Now the soldier lives in Chernivtsi, where he found out about the activities of the Driving School for people with disabilities. Maksym Kulyk says: ‘It was my fate that I stayed in Bukovyna with my beloved wife Olia, who supports me and encourages me to move forward. To learn practical driving skills, I came to Kamianets-Podilskyi to the driving school for people with disabilities of KhNUIA. Being able to drive a vehicle means, first of all, communication, convenience, independence and the ability to fulfil oneself both in personal, family life and in the profession. I have always strived to be useful to society, and now even more so. I have a lot of plans for the future and I want to make them come true, so if I set a goal, I will definitely achieve it.’
