Participation of an OSUIA scientist in the «Third National Conference on Preventing and Combating Illegal Trafficking in Weapons, Ammunition, and Explosives»

Professor of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, PhD in Law, Professor Andrii Benitskyi took part in the «Third National Conference on Preventing and Combating Illicit Trafficking in Weapons, Ammunition, and Explosives», which was organized by the European Union Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine in cooperation with the OSCE and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

About 100 representatives of the National Police of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigations, and other state bodies of Ukraine, international organizations, diplomatic missions, and civil society were involved in the scientific and practical event.

The conference served as a platform for discussions on issues related to improving national legislation in the field of illicit trafficking in weapons, ammunition, and explosives. During the event, key issues related to the implementation of conventional norms on preventing and combating illicit trafficking in weapons, etc., were analyzed.

At the end of the conference, international partners confirmed their readiness to support the development and implementation of the National Strategy to Combat Illegal Arms Trafficking until 2030, which is currently being developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the OSCE, and the EUAM in Ukraine.
