On October 10, the Rector's Sambo Cup among men started at the Odessa State University of Internal Affairs.

The grand opening of the competitions was attended by the rector of the University Vyacheslav Abroskin; the lecturer of the Department of tactical-special, fire and physical training of the University, two times European champion, world champion, multiple champion of Ukraine in sambo, Master of Sport of the International class, police major Anatoliy Voloshinov as well as Honored Master of Sports in sambo, coach of the FST Dynamo team in Odessa region Myckola Pasichnyck.

Five teams of cadets and students from all faculties of the University took part in the competitions. It was held according to the rules of the National Sambo Federation of Ukraine and the winners were determined in both individual and team competitions.

The results of the competitions are the following:
1st place was won by the team of the Faculty of training specialists for criminal police units;
2nd place was taken by the team of the Faculty of training specialists for pre-trial investigation bodies;
The 3rd place was won by the team of Kherson faculty.
Athletes of the University were awarded separately in different weight categories as well as an award in the nomination "For the best technique".

During the solemn ceremony the 2nd year cadet of the Faculty of Criminal Police Training was awarded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for conscientious attitude to the performance of official duties, exemplary performance of the Oath of a police officer and personal courage shown during the detention of the offender.
At the same time, in order to develop sambo wrestling at the University and improve the sports level, the coach of the University team in combat sambo, champion of Europe and the world Anatoly Voloshinov was presented with the sports equipment by the rector of the University.
