From July 15 to 17, Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted a three-day training course for trainers on investigating crimes related to human trafficking and illegal transportation of persons. The event was organized with the support of the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine (EUAM) for scientific and pedagogical workers and higher education students of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs.

The training was conducted by international experts from the EUAM:
Joël Detilloux (Belgium), Senior Advisor on Criminal Investigations;
Desiree Hoefnagel (Austria), Advisor-Trainer on Criminal Investigations;

Frederic Petitjean (Belgium), Advisor-Trainer on Criminal Investigations;
Gediminas Butciunas (Lithuania), Senior Advisor on Criminal Proceedings;
Juan Carlos Arias Lоpez (Spain), Senior Advisor on OSINT.

Participants covered a wide range of topics, including:
international practices in combating human trafficking;
methods for interviewing victims;

criminal prosecution of crimes related to human trafficking;
use of open source intelligence (OSINT) in investigations.

Particular attention was paid to practical aspects, interagency cooperation, and respect for human rights when working with victims. Following the training, participants received certificates and methodological materials that they will be able to use in their future professional activities.

It should be noted that the training was conducted as part of the EUAM program «Operational Support in Providing Strategic Advice on Reforming Ukraine's Civil Security Sector (2025-2027)».
