A new rector has been introduced at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. Oleksii Takhtai, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Ihor Klymenko, the Head of the National Police of Ukraine, took part in the event. Valerii Sokurenko, Police General of the third rank, has been appointed as a rector of the University by the order of the MIA.
Valerii Vasylovych was rector in 2015–2019, and from the year 2019 till 2020 he held the position of the Head of the Headquarters of the National Police of Ukraine in Kharkiv Region. As OleksiiTakhtai noted, the acquired practical experience would be implemented in the educational process and would help to improve the quality of future police officers’ training.
Ihor Klymenko, the Head of the National Police of Ukraine, noted the careful attitude of the university team to traditions and succession of generations, emphasizing that the previous Rectors, such as Oleksandr Bandurka and Serhii Husarov, Colonel-Generals of Militia, also had practical experience and they headed the General Directorate of Militia in Kharkiv Region at the time. Ihor Volodymyrovych stated that the cooperation of the National Police and the university in the implementation of such undertaken programs, as Custody Records, police training on specialty “Law-Enforcement Activity” according to a new “2+1” model, juvenile prevention staff and others, will continue. The university has been noted for stability, high scientific and educational potential, and its graduates are the best ones in the system of MIA.
Oleksii Takhtai and Ihor Klymenko thanked Dmytro Shvets, who had been a rector, for honest and dedicated work, highly appreciated a strong contribution to the development of the university, and the education of the young professionals for the National Police of Ukraine, they wished strength and new achievements. Dmytro Shvets has been appointed as the First Vice-Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs by the order of MIA. Dmytro Shvets has been awarded a personal weapon for honorable service and contribution to the training of highly-qualified staff.
