
Associate professors of the Department of Sociology and Psychology of the ERI No. 5, candidates of psychological sciences Yana Ponomarenko and Alla Shylina acted as speakers at an extended meeting of the Parents' Council of Saltivskyi district, dedicated to the topic "Joint work of educational institutions, the parent community, law enforcement agencies and social services to prevent the recruitment of children and their involvement in subversive activities".
The university representatives gave a report "The problem of recruitment of adolescents: how to detect and prevent - a psychological perspective". They focused on the fact that the war in Ukraine is not only an armed conflict, but also a cruel information war, in which the aggressor country actively uses propaganda to undermine the morale of Ukrainians, in particular young people.

The speakers paid special attention to the vulnerability of adolescents, whose values and worldview are still being formed. They emphasized that social networks have become a key tool for the dissemination of manipulative content that can be used to recruit adolescents. The mechanisms of influence, the role of social networks, the psychological consequences of recruitment were revealed in detail, and the importance of joint responsibility in countering this phenomenon was emphasized.

Yana Ponomarenko and Alla Shylina provided practical recommendations for parents on identifying risk signs and preventing the influence of manipulation on children, explaining the reasons hidden in the age and psychological characteristics of adolescents that make them particularly vulnerable to the influence of propaganda.
The event, organized by the Department of Education of Saltivskyi District Administration of Kharkiv City Council, ended with a constructive dialogue, during which the participants discussed possible joint actions to protect children from manipulative influence and involvement in subversive activities.
