On November 18, an open meeting of the scientific circle of the Department of Criminal Procedure named after Professor Serhii Stakhivskyi was held with the participation the Head of the Main Department of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Directorate for Strategic Planning and European Integration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Liudmyla Chubynska.

The speaker began her speech covering a topical issue for future police officers and all conscious citizens: the history and preconditions for the creation of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), established on April 4, 1949 for the collective defense of member countries. The focus of her lecture has been made on NATO-Ukraine relations since 1992. The signal stage related to the adoption of the law of Ukraine on the strategic priority of foreign policy – Ukraine's membership in the Alliance – was analyzed.

The annual national program under the auspices of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, NATO Trust Funds and the activities of interdepartmental working groups of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in various areas (including countering hybrid threats, professional growth of civil servants, cyber defense, etc.) aroused great interest in the research and teaching staff who were present at the meeting. Among the issues related to the security sector, the most relevant topics for those present, were the principles of reforming the National Police of Ukraine.

The lecturer spoke about NATO standards, the values of collective cooperation. The most interesting for the applicants were the so-called myths about NATO, namely the loss of sovereignty and the obligation to participate in military operations.
