KhNUIA discussed corruption risks in the activities of the MIA

A round table on ‘Corruption risks in the activities of the MIA in the context of martial law and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine’ was held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.

The event was held in pursuance of the Anti-Corruption Programme of the MIA of Ukraine for 2023-2025.

The round table was opened by Valerii Sokurenko, Rector of the university, Police General of the Third Rank, who emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of transparency and integrity in martial law:

"We have gathered at a time when the war poses unprecedented challenges for state institutions. In such conditions, it is particularly important to ensure accountability, openness and zero tolerance for corruption in the MIA system. The success of the reconstruction of country and the development of a democratic state depends on the level of public trust in law enforcement agencies."

 

Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Agency for Prevention Corruption, the NATO-Ukraine Building Integrity Programme, the National Police, the SES of Ukraine, the National Guard, civil society organizations and higher education institutions of the MIA took part in the meeting.

There were discussed issues related to certification in the field of corruption prevention, the establishment of digital tools, working with whistleblowers and transparency in public purchases.

The round table was moderated by Kateryna Udod, Anti-corruption Authorized Person of the University.

According to the results of the round table, recommendations were developed for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
