KhNUIA Systematically Develops Adaptive Sports for War Veterans
НАВС

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs is systematically developing adaptive sports initiatives, creating opportunities for veterans of the Russo-Ukrainian War to maintain physical activity, restore motor skills, and return to an active lifestyle. Regular training sessions take place at the university, guided by specialists from the Department of Special Physical Training.

This session was attended by Artem Ksheminskyi, a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian War and head of the "Zakhysnyky Podillia" (Defenders of Podillia) civic organization. This was not his first time participating in adaptive sports training at KhNUIA.

Artem Ksheminskyi served in the 87th Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, carrying out combat missions in the Sumy and Kharkiv sectors. He sustained the injury that resulted in his disability while defending the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region.

"This isn't my first time training at KhNUIA, and I benefit from these sessions every time. Adaptive sports provide a way to stay in shape, work on mobility, and return to an active life. For veterans, it is also an opportunity to socialize, be among people who understand your experiences, and gradually set new goals for themselves," Artem noted.

During the session, Ihor Boiko, an instructor from the Department of Special Physical Training (Educational and Research Institute No. 2), led a series of exercises focused on coordination and strength. The program was designed to activate the body and improve flexibility, agility, and limb motor skills. The university continues to place significant emphasis on the development of adaptive sports as a key avenue for supporting veterans and creating conditions for their physical recovery and return to a full, active life.
