Four years ago, on February 24, the russian federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. On the same day, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine established the National Day of Prayer. This year, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs joined in commemorative and spiritual events dedicated to the unity of the Ukrainian people, support for defenders, and honoring those who died as a result of the war.
The university management, academic staff, cadets, and students took part in the event, as well as guests of honor—clergy, representatives of the clergy, and combatants.
The event began with a minute of silence, during which participants honored the memory of fallen soldiers, civilians, and university graduates and employees who gave their lives for Ukraine.
Addressing those present, University Vice-Rector Viktor Vasylenko emphasized: “Four years ago, Kharkiv was one of the first cities to experience the full brutality of a full-scale invasion. Despite the difficult circumstances, we persevered thanks to the unity, courage, and faith of Ukrainians. And today, even in the difficult times of war, our university continues to educate and train professionals to serve and defend the country. For us, the National Day of Prayer is not only a symbol of spiritual unity, but also a reminder of the responsibility and strength we draw from faith, knowledge, and joint action. It is these values that help us to persevere, remember the fallen, and move confidently towards victory”.
During the event, those present jointly performed the spiritual anthem of Ukraine, “God, Great and One,” which has become a symbol of the faith, hope, and resilience of the Ukrainian people in the face of war.

In addition, cadets and students joined the citywide campaign “Honor the Heroes with a Minute of Silence” and laid flowers at memorials and commemorative signs, honoring the feat of Ukrainian defenders and civilians who died for the freedom and independence of the state.

The events held were an important manifestation of the spiritual unity of the university community, support for the defenders of the state, and affirmation of faith in Ukraine's victory.
