Dmytro Petrenko told the first-year students about the peculiarities of military service in the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo Halytskyi, the defense of Toretsk, the endurance and courage of his comrades-in-arms, and his love for his native land.
Dmytro noted how important the support of his family and friends was to him when he was seriously wounded and lost his lower limb in Donetsk sector in November 2023. This became a source of strength and motivation for him, which helped speed up his recovery, both physically and psychologically.
In civilian life, Dmytro dreams of becoming a driver and has now started taking a theoretical course at the Driving School for Persons with Disabilities at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.
At the end of the conversation, the students presented Dmytro with a book “Gates of Europe. The History of Ukraine from the Scythian Wars to Independence” by Serhii Plokhii, as well as literature recommended by his doctors for psycho-emotional support.
