From Forensics to Cybersecurity: MIA Lyceum Students Explore Training Opportunities at KhNUIA
НАВС

How do forensic experts work, how is cybercrime countered, and how are future law enforcement officers trained? Students of the Andrii Pryimachenko Ivano-Frankivsk MIA Lyceum explored these and other questions during their second visit to Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The programme included practical demonstrations, an introduction to modern technologies, and an opportunity to gain a closer insight into the profession of a law enforcement officer.

Representatives of Educational and Research Institute No. 1 informed the visitors of the investigators and inquiry officer's training and demonstrated the capabilities of modern forensic science. The lyceum students learned about 3D modelling technologies and fingerprinting – the process of obtaining and recording fingerprints.

At Educational and Research Institute No. 4, prospective applicants visited the Cyber Centre, where they learned about combating cybercrime, identifying digital threats, and the principles of cyber hygiene. They were also introduced to the BRAMA project, aimed at countering hostile propaganda and the spread of harmful content.

The practical part of the visit included an introduction to police equipment and special means, as well as the facilities of traditional and interactive shooting ranges. Representatives of the Departments of Tactical and Special Training and Firearms Training demonstrated various aspects of practical training for future law enforcement officers. The lyceum students were also reminded of mine safety rules and instructed on how to act if suspicious objects are discovered.

During a psychological training session, the lyceum students completed exercises aimed at developing communication, teamwork, and self-regulation skills – all important for their future professional activities.

Particular attention was paid to admission requirements at KhNUIA, the organization of the educational process, practical training, and prospects for future service. The students were also introduced to opportunities for admission to Kremenchuk Flight College and the specifics of studying at the institution, which trains pilots and aviation engineering specialists.

“I was particularly interested in seeing how everything works in practice, especially the work of forensic experts and cybersecurity specialists. Meetings like this help us better understand what law enforcement officers do and decide which area we would like to pursue in the future,” one of the lyceum students said.

The programme concluded with a tour of the historic centre of Kamianets-Podilskyi. The visit gave the lyceum students an opportunity to learn more about the University, see how professional skills are applied in practice, and explore opportunities for further education and future career choices.
