“Barrier-free driving schools”: new opportunities for mobility
НАВС

An information meeting was held at the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions with the participation of veteran support specialists who ensure interaction between state institutions and combatants, helping them to receive the necessary administrative services.

The participants were joined by a graduate of the “Barrier-free driving school” of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, a combatant Andrii Liubimenko, who, after being injured, continues his service and works as a personnel inspector of the university’s personnel department.

During the event, the participants were presented with the current services of the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In particular, the topic was the procedures for re-equipping vehicles, adapting cars for manual control for people with disabilities and veterans, as well as the procedure for their registration. Separately, the issues of exchanging and renewing a driver’s license, passing theoretical and practical exams were considered.

Особливу увагу приділили можливостям проєкту «Безбар’єрні автошколи», який спрямований на навчання людей з інвалідністю та ветеранів кермуванню транспортними засобами в адаптованих умовах.

Andrii Liubimenko shared his impressions of participating in the project: “Training at the “Barrier-Free Driving School” was an important stage in my recovery and return to an active life. I gained not only driving skills, but also confidence in my own abilities. Converting the car to manual control and registering it allowed me to be more independent and mobile in everyday life.”

Andrii’s practical experience is an example of the effectiveness of such initiatives, because after completing the training, passing the exams, and receiving a driver’s license, he re-registered the car after adapting it to his own needs.
