In March, Global Money Week is traditionally held all over the world, an international educational initiative aimed at improving the financial literacy of children and young people, forming a responsible attitude to personal finances and developing skills for effective money management.
The Department of Social and Economic Disciplines of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs actively participated in the celebration of Global Money Week 2026, organizing a number of educational and educational events for education seekers.
An open lecture on the topic «History of money in Ukraine» was held in the hub «City of Contents», which was conducted by Oleksandra Holovko, Associate Professor of the Department of Social and Economic Disciplines. During the event, the evolution of money circulation on Ukrainian lands was considered not only as an economic process, but also as an important element of state formation. Through the history of money, the participants traced Ukraine's path to independence, the struggle for national identity and sovereignty. Particular attention was paid to the importance of the financial independence and stability of the state in the conditions of modern challenges, because they are directly related to economic security, trust in the national currency and the general stability of the country.
An important component of the university's participation in Global Money Week was the presentation of the grant educational project «Financial Patrol», which is implemented at the Department of Social and Economic Disciplines. The project is aimed at forming the financial literacy of young people, developing safe behavior skills in the financial environment and raising awareness of the risks of financial fraud.
As part of Global Money Week, this project was presented to cadets and students of higher education majoring in «Accounting and Taxation» of KhNUIA with the aim of attracting new participants, because part of the team is completing their studies. During the meeting, they also discussed the importance of youth participation in such initiatives and the possibility of preparing grant applications in the field of financial literacy and financial security, which contributes to the professional and personal development of education seekers.
Serhii Hirenko, Deputy Director of the ERI No. 2, shared with the cadets his vision of the further development of the project and student initiatives, noting the high level of activity and achievements of the participants of the «Financial Patrol». He emphasized the importance of supporting youth educational initiatives, developing leadership qualities and involving young people in the implementation of socially significant projects that contribute to the formation of a financially literate society.
Serhii Rudenko, Head of the project from the Department of Social and Economic Disciplines, noted that participation in the «Financial Patrol» provides an opportunity not only to deepen knowledge of financial literacy, but also to acquire important skills in communication, teamwork and organization of educational events.
The «Financial Patrol» team has already visited more than 20 educational institutions and held a series of interactive workshops for more than 500 schoolchildren and students. Such events contribute to the popularization of a responsible attitude to money, the development of practical financial skills and the formation of a culture of financial security among young people.
