Oleksii SERDIUK, Head of the Research Laboratory for Social and Psychological Support, Assistance and Rehabilitation of Employees of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, took part in the annual conference of the European Society of Criminology "EUROCRIM 2025", which was held in Athens (Hellenic Republic).

The conference brings together leading scientists and practitioners every year to present the results of the most important European and global research on crime. This year, more than 2,000 representatives from over 50 countries took part. Participants were suggested a packed programme covering more than 450 thematic panels.

At EUROCRIM 2025, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs co-organised a round table discussion entitled "War and Crime: Conducting Criminological Research in Ukraine during Wartime – Lessons Learned ‘. University representative Oleksii SERDIUK presented the results of three international research projects involving KhNUIA and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine: the Horizon Europe programme project "RESONANT", the annual monitoring of public opinion on the work of law enforcement agencies "Security and Trust", and the SafeOnline programme project "Children Online", implemented in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University (United Kingdom).

Oleksii SERDIUK also presented a thematic panel entitled "The well-being of researchers conducting emotionally sensitive research".The results of a comparative study of the mental health of specialists in the psychological services of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, and the National Police of Ukraine aroused considerable interest among conference participants.

In addition, Oleksii SERDIUK held a series of meetings with partners within the Horizon Europe research consortia. As a result, agreements were reached on further cooperation in several scientific projects, in particular in the RAISE project – Radicalisation Assessment and Intervention System for Europe, which has a special focus on the reintegration of veterans.
