Second-year cadets of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs took part in a practical freestyle wrestling lesson conducted by representatives of the Department of Special Physical Training of KhNUIA together with Honored Ukrainian coach Dmytro Pasenko.

Dmytro Pasenko is one of leading freestyle wrestling specialists in Ukraine, a multiple champion and coach who has trained dozens of international level athletes. His methodology combines classic wrestling techniques with elements of modern self-defence tactics, which is particularly important for training future law enforcement officers.

During the lesson, cadets improved their groundwork techniques, throwing and defence techniques. The coach demonstrated modern approaches to performing basic and counterattacking throws, as well as ways to escape from holds. The educational seekers actively practised the techniques in pairs, feeling the real rhythm and dynamics of wrestling.

‘Such training helps to build confidence in own abilities, learn to act quickly, competently and effectively even in the most extreme situations,’ said Dmytro Pasenko.
