Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs has—for the third consecutive time—been selected for the U.S. State Department’s Virtual English Language Educator Program.

Participation in the program allows KhNUIA cadets to improve their professional English under the guidance of American instructor Brandy Griffin. The 12-week online course will begin on September 28, 2026. Each week, Brandy Griffin will conduct classes for two groups of cadets and will also provide monthly consultations to university faculty on English language teaching methods.

The program is fully funded by the United States government.

On the eve of the start of the training, a coordination meeting was held between representatives of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs and the project partners. Participants included Olena Stativka, Head of the Department of Language Training, and Nataliia Sadova, a Leading Specialist of the International Cooperation Department; representing the American side – Jen MacArthur, Regional English Language Officer (RELO) at the U.S. Department of State, Lilia Shylo, coordinator of the Regional English Language Office at the U.S. Embassy, and virtual English language instructor Brandy Griffin.

During the meeting, Lilia Shylo announced that the U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Office had approved Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs’ application to participate in the program. The participants agreed on the organizational and technical aspects of the course, defined the English proficiency requirements for cadets, established the timeframe for the collaboration, and outlined further coordination of the project.

The Department of Language Training, in collaboration with the International Cooperation Department, will coordinate the educational process, finalize the class schedule, monitor attendance, and provide the necessary support throughout the course.

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs’ third consecutive participation in the program was the result of joint efforts by the Department of Language Training and the Department of International Cooperation in preparing the application.
