Representatives of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs – Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law Yulia Zahumenna, Deputy Director of the ERI No. 2 Serhii Hirenko and Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology Kyrylo Cherevko – joined the work of the International Scientific Forum “Legal Aid and Legal Education: the Mission of Legal Clinics in the System of Human Rights Protection in the Context of European Integration”.

The key topics of the event were innovative ways of developing legal clinics as modern human rights and communication platforms. The participants discussed the prospects for international cooperation, drawing on the experience of partner associations around the world. The Head of the Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine Yulia Lomzhets outlined the achievements of the network over the past year and emphasized the importance of monitoring procedures, which will allow improving the quality of the clinics’ work and using the Association’s information resources more effectively.

During the discussion, priorities for the development of the clinical movement were identified: from improving the qualifications of curators and applicants to involving them in international projects and strengthening the staffing of clinics in higher education institutions. Serhiy Girenko shared his experience of practical work, who spoke about the specifics of the activities of the Legal Clinic of KhNUIA in Vinnytsia.

Participation in such a professional event contributes to the improvement of the legal educational work of the university and the integration of the best world practices into the educational process.
