НАВС

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs held a regular working meeting with representatives of Tetra Tech, the US Department of State's partner in the field of humanitarian mine action in Ukraine within the framework of the World Weapons Destruction Support Service (WDSS) project.

The meeting was attended by Mark Winfield, an Liaison Officer for State Universities of Internal Affairs, and Nataliia Bazhyna, a technical translator. Vasyl Kikinchuk, Director of the Educational and Research Institute No. 2, Acting Head of the Department of Tactical and Special Training Tykhin Shevchenko and academic staff of the Department joined the discussion from the university.

The parties discussed the organization and conduct of the mine safety course «Training of instructors (EHAT-T3)». Particular attention was paid to the prospects for increased cooperation, in particular the creation of a joint working group to update the methodological support for police training, taking into account modern threats related to explosive ordnance.

«We see a reliable partner in KhNUIA. The lecturers of the Department of Tactical and Special Training – are specialists with real practical and combat experience, and it is with such teams that we strive to develop the training of instructors», – noted Mark Winfield.

«Today, preparing police officers for action in the conditions of a mine threat – is a practical necessity. We are interested not only in participating in such trainings, but also in the systematic development of our own educational and methodological base, taking into account the real experience of the service», – emphasized Vasyl Kikinchuk.

The implementation of the planned measures will contribute to increasing the level of training of academic staff and the development of the institutional potential of the university for the dissemination of knowledge on mine safety in the system of the MIA of Ukraine.
