НАВС

As part of the National Accessibility Week, a meeting was held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs between representatives of the barrier-free driving school of KhNUIA and the leadership of the territorial center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions with specialists in supporting war veterans from the Veteran Space Center of Kamianets-Podilskyi District Council.

The event was another stage in the development of cooperation between institutions, as recently an agreement on partnership and interaction in the field of support for war veterans, persons with disabilities and the creation of an accessible educational environment was concluded between KhNUIA and Veteran PRO.

During the meeting, university representatives presented the guests with the material and technical base of the barrier-free driving school: specially equipped vehicles, on which practical driving training is conducted for people with disabilities and war veterans, training rooms for theoretical training, as well as a modern computer class with training simulators.

Representatives of the veteran space got acquainted with the features of conducting a practical exam in a service center, requirements for driver candidates and the specifics of adapting a vehicle to the needs of people with disabilities.

The participants also discussed the issues of accessibility of educational services, social adaptation of veterans and creating conditions for their integration into civilian life through acquiring new practical skills and opportunities for self-realization.

“The “Barrier-Free Driving School” project is extremely important for supporting veterans and forming a truly barrier-free environment. The opportunity to undergo training in comfortable and accessible conditions helps people adapt faster and confidently return to active social life,” said one of the veteran support specialists.

Holding such events contributes to strengthening interagency cooperation, developing inclusive initiatives, and implementing the state policy of barrier-free access aimed at supporting war veterans and other low-mobility categories of the population.
