As part of the National Barrier-Free Week, the public organization “Chernivtsi Association “ZAKHYST”” is holding an All-Ukrainian educational initiative “A Big Lesson on Barrier-Freeness” for students, cadets and youth from different regions of Ukraine.

A meeting of cadets, students of the ERI No. 1, 4, 5 and teachers with barrier-free ambassadors Oleksandr Hlibka and Nadia Peshchanyuk – participants of the All-Ukrainian campaign “Barrier-freeness is when you can”, launched on the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. The event was held to raise awareness among young people about inclusion, equality and accessibility, as well as to form an understanding of the importance of creating a barrier-free society.

The ambassadors spoke with young people about the importance of creating a barrier-free environment, the principles of tolerant communication and the practice of barrier-free communication. Participants learned about the features of the correct use of terminology in communicating with people with disabilities, got acquainted with the accessibility guide and the basics of the Ukrainian dactyl alphabet.

The speakers emphasized that accessibility is, first of all, respect for human dignity, equal opportunities and openness of society for everyone.

Cadets and students actively participated in the discussion, asked questions and exchanged views on creating an inclusive environment in everyday life and future professional activities.
