Two more students of the barrier-free driving school of KhNUIA, Vasyl Shafranskyi and Nataliia Pentiuk, successfully passed a practical driving exam at the territorial service center of Kamianets-Podilskyi in Khmelnytskyi region and received their dream driver's licenses.

Both are natives of Chernivtsi region, where they independently mastered the theoretical part and took the exam in Chernivtsi. They underwent practical training at the barrier-free driving school of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.
In April 2022, Vasyl Shafranskyi volunteered to serve in the territorial defense units, and later in the military unit. He participated in hostilities in Donetsk direction. While performing a task near Bakhmut, he was seriously injured and lost his lower limb.

“Getting a license is an opportunity to work and move on. I want to return to active life, I plan to work as a freight forwarder or taxi driver. I learned about the driving school from a comrade with whom I was in rehabilitation. He studied here and now works at the university. I am very grateful to him for pushing me to try,” says Vasyl.

Nataliia Pentiuk is a teacher by profession. In her youth, she suffered a serious illness, the complications of which affected her legs. Later, one of her limbs required amputation. Despite all the trials, Nataliia did not give up her long-standing dream of getting behind the wheel and feeling mobile and independent.

“I have wanted to learn to drive for a long time - this is freedom, the opportunity to decide for myself how and where to go, not to depend on circumstances or outside help. I was very worried before the exam, but the representatives of the driving school supported me at every stage,” Nataliia shares her impressions.

The barrier-free driving school of KhNUIA emphasizes: accessible training and work with people with disabilities is one of the most important areas of work.
