The Hungarian city of Szigetszentmiklós hosted the European Sumo Championship among youth (under 21 and under 23) and adults. 370 athletes from 17 countries took part in the competitions. Among them were students of Sumy branch of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs Kirill KRUPSKYI and Dmytro KOTOV, who train at the city’s children’s and youth sports school “Kolos” (coaches: Serhii HEKALO and Vladyslav VIUN).
In the U-21 age category, Dmytro won a bronze medal, and in the team competitions, together with Kirill, representing the Ukrainian national team, they won silver.
In the U-23 category, both athletes won gold medals: Dmytro in the weight category up to 92 kg, and Kirill in the absolute. Brothers Kirill and Yehor KRUPSKYI performed brilliantly in the team competition, where the Ukrainian team took 1st place.
Kirill KRUPSKYI was recognized as the best wrestler of the European Championship according to the European Sumo Federation. He defeated all rivals whose weight ranged from 130 to 210 kg.
The achievements of the student champions are the result of hard work, strength of spirit and modern approaches to training.
Keep it up!
