At all locations of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs - in Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy and Poltava regions - students and university employees celebrated an important historical and political event - the unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic into a single (unified) Ukrainian state.

With a minute of silence, those present honored the bright memory, courage, strength of spirit, resilience and heroic feat of soldiers, law enforcement officers, all those who fell while performing combat missions and official duties, as well as civilians who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

On behalf of the Rector of the university, Police General of the third rank Valerii Sokurenko, the First Vice-rector Viktor Vasylenko addressed the participants of the event: “Unity Day is an important holiday that reminds us of unity, common goal and pride in our independent state. You, the young generation, will have to restore and rebuild our country. We are confident that you will cope with any tasks that society and the state will set before you. Respect for the work of previous generations and concern for future ones are the foundation on which a strong, independent and powerful Ukraine is built. Happy Unity Day! Glory to Ukraine!”

In Khmelnytskyi region, on behalf of the Head of the university Valerii Sokurenko, the Vice-rector of the university Serhii Bortnyk congratulated the youth on the holiday. He noted: “Today, like over a century ago, Ukraine is courageously overcoming difficult trials, defending its territorial integrity and independence from the Russian aggressor. Every day, with our courage and resilience, we prove that Ukrainians are a nation, the only people who have the right to live in their own state.” Serhii Bortnyk read Pavlo Tychyna’s poem “I Affirm”.

The festivities ended with performances by the university’s amateur art collective with vocal and choreographic compositions “To Victory”, “My State”.

On the same day, representatives of the university, together with pupils of preschool education institution No. 39 of the National Police of Ukraine and students of the Vinnytsia Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education, visited with a concert program wounded military personnel and police officers undergoing treatment in a medical institution.
